What do you think she weighs? Looked to me that she would go well over 500 lbs... maybe I am looking at the wrong older picture?
Black BABY calves are bringing $4-900 a head... yes, over $500 for a 3 day old baby calf.... seen a few bring in the $750 -950 range here last week....
She is worth $2.00 lb... at 500 lbs she would bring $750 to over $1000.... this is the heifer that kept getting out the electric fence right? The one the neighbor was interested in for a possible addition to his herd ?

Yes, Blossom. Born the week before Thanksgiving '23.

This is a blury screenshot, but if I'm reading it right - 500 to 700lbs brings $245 ‐ $232. ?

Yes, you are reading it right... EXCEPT that is PER 100 lbs..... not by the head.... we are getting over $3.00 PER POUND for feeder steers in the 500 pound weight ranges...
With the jersey in her, if she were to be sold at a graded sale, she might not grade "large"...and might grade a #2....finer boned..... but she is still worth $2.00 lb at least. And they will discount a little if they are too fat/rounded... because cattle like that will lose 50-100 lbs when turned out on "rougher" conditions... buyers like them fleshed but a little "lean" so they will go out and start to eat and gain fast....
Those prices are listed by the "hundred weight".... so $240 per hundred = $2.40 per pound.....
I would make the trip down there for just her at $250 a head.... and make my fuel and double my investment in less than a week....
Like I said, she is worth $1000 at least without weighing her or anything...

Do NOT "give her away".... I am trying to keep you from losing out on a decent payback..... like I said, it would pay me to make that trip down there to pay you $300 for her, pay my fuel, and come back and sell her at market prices next week for over $2.00 per pound....
Most all cattle prices are listed like that meaning per 100 lbs.... just the way it it is done.

Coffee is ready. Woke up at 3:00 . Going for second cup. Ought to bag up trash, that means folding down op of feed sack and securing with duct tape and setting a new feed sack in the cardboard box that keeps it from falling over. Got lots of feed sacks, why but plastic bags? Think I’ll start a load of laundry.

I use feed sacks 😂. Lotta cat food bags, too! I roll and staple them. Hey, it's all gotta go somewhere! Plus these are paid for (dearly!) why spend more. 👍 Did laundry yesterday between prepping & canning kraut. Rainy day. Today windy & cold. 😳. So another mostly insider. Contemplating that as I have my coffee. Actually chilly inside, so room heater on for an hr of chill relief.

Rains mean no garden progress. Cabbage starts are ok with cooler, tomato/peppers not so much. So all in little greenhouse to have somewhat warmer temps, at least. 🤷 I'll check them in a while....prob ok.

I'm not thrilled with this little blast of winter after a lovely spring start. 36 with 28 feel like out there!😵‍💫 That northern storm is sending a message...lucky me, no snow included.👍

Yesterday was recovery day so I wasn’t online. Went to town for yet another Dr appt day before. Took Fen and left Boone home. Fen did an outstanding job. He accurately predicted my falling, was able to discern when to walk next to me on loose leash and when to keep tension on short handle on his service vest to keep me from falling.

Oops. Forgot to post yesterday. Oh well. Happy Coffee today!

@Mini Horses It does make a little difference with Fen to wear his vest. He hates wearing it, but it has his “in training” patches so I keep it on him when in town. Heath never wore a vest or leash, just a scarf. He was so funny, he would “heel” as I walked thru the house or outside except in sniffaris.
I like very much that Fen will use his weight against the vest to pull me a little. It really helps when I wobble. It why I got Boone, but Fen is doing his level best.

With about 8 feed sacks a month we are inundated with them, problem is any specks of feed are drawing mice in. Though at 8 mice traps they are all getting a mouse a by morning and pigs have snacks, nothing is getting wasted here now.
High of 20°F today and tomorrow so I don't know, might start the excavator up and bench down another 10' or I may just sit inside and design the well system with holding tank and price everything out. Good day to take a break.
