Not a regular on the coffee thread, but I’m just sitting here with an injured knee catching up on everyone’s journals.

Was trying to catch a goose with a net Friday evening when something in my knee made a snapping sound and feeling, and I immediately lost my ability to use that leg. Had to get down and crawl on my hands and knees, which fortunately I was able to do.

X-rays revealed nothing broken (yay!) and now I’m waiting on a call back from the orthopedist to schedule a follow up appointment and probably an MRI. ER doc said probably torn meniscus. Not allowed to walk on it. (Can’t anyway) But I can use crutches, and I have a nice rolling desk chair that has come in handy. I have a whole new respect for people in wheel chairs!

It’s been improving with each day, so I imagine by the time I get an ortho appointment, I’ll be walking in normally. I can already stand on it; I just can’t put enough weight on it to lift the good foot off the ground.

I had a life of ease over the weekend but tomorrow I will probably be back to doing chores hobbling on crutches.🩼 🪣 🐓
Better to stay off it as much as possible..

WAY easier said than done.

Also, WOW, sounds nasty and painful! So sorry! :hugs

Got my "new" to me truck home this weekend '15 F450, already dirtied it up with tossing hay on the back within hours. Seems to be a problem with the engine the check engine light is on and low on power, I will find it. So far fuel filters are new.
I suspect air leak on the intake side for the turbo. Good news is I guess they took to heart my complaint about the last place I tried to buy a truck and switched my tires out for some brand new ones all the around, that was about $3k upgrade for free. Going to drive it to town to the shop I do work in and rip it apart.
Speaking of torn and messed up knees, if you aren't wearing the right footwear that can have a effect too. Wretched mine tearing down the grain bins being on sloped surfaces wearing boots not made to fit and worn out to the point it had screws holing them together. It was then I went to actual shoe shop of sorts "Redwing" and they fitted me correctly. Uncle Sam always said here is boots wear them, so "Redwing" showed me the first time in my life I found out I was wearing the wrong boot size.
The VA sent me for PT for the knee and they kicked me out saying I was too strong and it would require surgery, years later nothing has been done. Ice and sideways loading acts it up.

Two bucklings put in sick bay this morning. Starting a runny nose, lethargic. Noticed they both looked toooo quiet yesterday --- they were too easy to catch 😖🥴 so in a stall!! Amoxicillin will work its magic in a day or 2. They'll be tired of me by this time next week  This up & down weather gets them sometimes. Have tetracycline & penn but, trying for no shots. Glad I loaded up meds while they were OTC.

Need to run to town. Then I'm mowing the garden! Get it ready for winter. Nice weather today. 😁

Caddo (aloha) and Moses barked much of the night. They will do wide patrol after breakfast then station themselves accordingly depending on the flock although they rarely travel right with it the way Smitty and Crockett did. No losses however.

Still off chicken feeding duty. Found out trying to get in and out of coops on crutches isn’t possible. Let alone trying to carry anything in. DH will have to do it for a little while longer. He hates it. 😥
That is insanity making and high stress inducing.

So sorry. :hugs

Coffee is ready. Got to go to town this morning to buy a small tarp to go over the cow panel hoop, round bale hay feeder the granddaughters and I put up yesterday. Going to dry lot the sheep, this drought is bad.
Wow... from living in a swamp in spring... to a desert in fall.... all in the same year!

I feel for you! :hugs
