Hi everyone! I've been very absent from here lately-life has been crazy, but then what else is new? I finished my first semester at school, started the second semester last week. I'm enjoying it so far-tons of work, but my residency comes up in a few weeks, so I'll be up in New Hampshire for 6 days.
Went on two back to back business trips with DH, the first to NM, and I fell in love with it. Just amazing. The people and food and of course the desert and mountains-I could live there. Right now I'm on my last day of the second trip-Washington DC-three of four kids and SOs joined us for the weekend and we did some fun stuff-The White House, The Capitol and all the rest of the stuff that makes up the government. I liked seeing the sights but I am ready to leave. We're on the 3 o'clock Amtrak today.
Big News! We pick up my first little goats on Friday! Two ND Doelings! I'm so excited! I managed to get their quarters ready (old chicken coop, really big, and impossible to escape from!) and they'l have the yard at the house down the hill to play in-6 foot fence, and will be supervised by one of us at all times.
I'm spending tomorrow putting down stall mats in the coop, to make cleaning easier, but the rest of the stuff is already done-Hanging buckets for water, food bowls, HUGE hay racks attached to walls, and tree stumps that they can play on. (we took down massive trees last year) I even painted the coop housing red. It was a light gray color, but years of chickens needed a new paint job after a good scrubbing.
I got all the feed and stuff that they need, tomorrow I pick up the hay, and then I'm ready!

I hope the pictures work! The little girl closest to the cat is Thistle, and the little spotted girl is Clover!!

The only thing that I want to offer you as advice..... coccidiosis is prevalent in chickens, often does not cause any problems that you see... but mammals can pick it up from poultry even several years later.... I had several calves get sick after being put in a pen where I ran turkeys 3 years previous. I did not clean the pen down to the concrete and wash it down... but had cleaned it out. So... just something to be careful of.

Nice! Cute girls. We pick up our first two doelings this Friday, with at least two more to follow shortly, I hope. That will put the property's estrogen-to-testosterone ratio at 16:2, with my wife, 2 female dogs, 9 hens and 4 doe goats. The little bantam rooster and I are hopelessly outnumbered.

Woohoo....more goat owners come Friday! It's just the beginning, believe me. Love my goats. Just put tonight's milk in freezer to chill for couple hrs.

Sooooo, guys -- that glorious fence charger died! 🤬. Worked fantastic for 3 days. No fuse to replace, just won't power on. Back in box, take to UPS where they scan the pic Amazon sent and back it goes. Now, shop again. 😢. So let down. :he

Well it's close to my friend in town so I'll stop by her house and leave 5 doz eggs....then UPS. 😁 Maybe I'll take her milk, too 🤔

Good Morning all! Coffee is ready and hot but the pot is getting empty so if you're up come grab you some before it's gone and as we drink our cups we can sit on the patio and enjoy the nice cool morning 47 here right now but going to get up to 69 and be partial cloudy today.

Having my coffee now 😁 real heavy cloud cover out there, rain prob till noonish. 🤷 Off to work in a couple hrs. To UPS store first. 😖.

These storms are severe!! Seeing all the flooding is scary. Add the tornados last week or two and it's devastation "everywhere". Horrible.

A different charger being delivered tomorrow...this one is a Parmak...have 3 of their big solars and an aged out plug in from 30 yrs ago to trash...hopeful with known brand.🤣 Another strong hit type. And a replacement battery for a solar is on the way.:clapi want this over.🥴 Goats & fence make sheep look good🤫

Two broody hens now...both growling at me & no eggs under them. Considering a pen and nest for both. Goat kids are growing well. Time to pull and wean. Some outbuilding painting is needed....never ends! I do have the paint. DD works at Lowe's, so set a couple gal aside as it was marked down at $9 vice $24 a gal. Yeah, even paint is overly expensive! Still no garden working 😞 but with this volatile weather it's worked out ok. Still time to grow.

I'm tired just reading this. 🤣 It's my start for the day, thinking about stuff ... I need to clone me to get it done.

I’m up. Dandelion was yelling and it penetrated my brain fog. She took 3 ounces, I put a diaper on her and she wanted in my lap for a nap.

Severe storm last night. Power off, hail, lightening put on a strobe light show, wind up to 60MPH and 1 1/2” of rain. Power came back on around 3AM. When it went off, I had the bed raised, sitting up reading. No power, bed won’t move. No problem, I moved to BJ’s side.

I’ll go outside and look around for any damage. Check car and truck for hail damage, check roof for hail damage.

Will be cloudy today, sunshine tomorrow!

Having my coffee now, a bit late - 'twas out the door early to sort sheep for lessons and get the groups set in the different arenas all on one cup, gingerbread and lemon curd for breakfast. Now on lunch coffee - then off to TSC to pick up dog treats (have to order online because they can't keep them in stock -- their own brand even). Then maybe some fence enhancements for where Wile E Coyote and family have made 'dug under' spots. HA - everyone talks about coyote rollers -- what those coyotes must not be too smart if they don't try to go under!
OH well, on with the rest of the day.
