Whew whatta couple of days. A freak accident killed my best Racka lamb. The yearling rams went berserk and battered a ewe. Her lamb has vanished. The big Racka ram squared off with the previously docile boys. Sent them flying but it was obvious separation was necessary. Battered ewe managed to tumble into a water bunk and was doing the backstroke. I got her into a different paddock then had to move the big Racka who was seriously aggressive. “Rot-ska” I said remembering @Finnie’s post. Ram stopped pawing the ground and swiveled an ear my way. “Komondor, komondorok, goulash.” Having exhausted my Hungarian I continued with nonsense words as he strolled past me toward the ewe. They are both resting by a round bale. I fear for her, she took a beating before I could separate her. The ram looked at me disdainfully. I could swear he muttered “Goulash? Seriously?”

Now you have Hungarian words to use on scam callers. This ram has given you a new identity.

I’m sorry the yearling rams went stupid and caused such problems. I hustle ram lambs off to auction or cut them to let them grow out for the freezer. I hope your ewe is ok. Poor girl.

I think Mr. Murphy paid me a visit. Hubbs had a buyer for the boys but he backed out last minute. Usually they don’t cause problems when the ewes are lambing. This property is more “wild”. Forest and rocky hills. Could it make them more aggressive? Tomorrow a ram pasture.

Winter is here, feel like of 29 out there 🥶🥶😵‍💫 staying this way or cooler for a while. Do not like winter cold! Even mentioning the "s" word on TV weather -- we got a light dusting '23, a few flakes in air '24, so we're having a "snow drought" . Geesh, keep it up! We don't do snow very well in these parts :old 🤪

Chores -- man!!! Have to. Will. Not liking it. 😖 icey water tubs.
3:30 woke up...tossed...got up. Now I'm 🥱 ridiculous.

Coffee is ready. After watching this, I think I need to go get a bottle of whiskey.

The best part of this oncoming big freeze is that I’m meeting my DD and her husband to pick up the little granddaughters on the 10th when storm strikes. And keep them through the 19th. DD and DSIL are going to Spain. I’ll have the girls and their 2 dogs for this snow and ice storm. Looking forward to no power, no water because I’ll cut it off to prevent pipes from freezing and busting. I can hunker down just fine on my own, but this won’t be any fun for the girls. No fun for sheep, dogs and me. Draw up water, got full propane tank and heater, so can stay warm. But I’ll be trudging through the ice and snow, carrying buckets of boiling water to sheep. Gonna go get some alfalfa and pine shavings.

I gotta have another cup of coffee. Phooey on this crap.

It's what I do daily here to make sure the pigs have water, 10 to 15 gallons a day through ice and snow, grab a pipe and bust a hole in the ice for the birds in their 1100 gallon pond.
Supposed to drop a foot of snow starting today onto Friday and not stop snowing till Sunday here. Might drop another bale in on Saturday if I can get the loader to crank up in such cold temperatures. If not I guess one pitch fork at a time.
