This morning the temp is remaining stubbornly at 28 up off the low of 23. North breeze. Watching the forecast. App says we are done with the teens and 20’s with the rest of the winter relatively mild. I’m not sure. February is a notorious trickster. Hanging around the ranch til noon when I’ll return my neighbor’s mail and take care of some of my own. Livestock ok. Need to break/add water again.

Definitely not snowed in here - and trying to waft over our 52-75 temps for today, tried with the <ouch> 80 temp of yesterday - some may have made it east!
Still windy-ish. Two more fires up in northern LA county - 10,176 ac 14% containment started yesterday morning and OMG another that was in the area of one of the three a couple weeks ago. Hmmm. The big one is in a rugged area mountains (high enough for snow), rough terrain, oh and closed the interstate in both directions for most of yesterday but thankfully is now open this morning.
Love my county, glad I'm not in LA.
OH and ..... rain predicted for Sunday 1/2 inch! Time will tell.

Good morning! Up at 5:30, which is closer to my work schedule alarm. Coffee and a look outside...

Wait...10°F? Totally unreal for eastern NC!

I went out about 7am, brought a bucket of hot tap water mixed with a kettle of boiling water.

Ice on water tub was almost an inch thick.

Flock appreciated the bits of canned corned beef that I offered.

Now I need to get back to work...yep, I made it in to the office.

I've got a lethargic tail down chicken in my bathtub. Two years old. I've given her several squirts of molasses water (I can't find my Karo), and turned the heater on in there to 66. She was alive still this morning.
