Beautiful morning, sun is out, only in the 20’s, took a crow bar to get frozen truck doors opened. Frozen ground made the drive to town like a highway. Can’t complain. Going to see if I can take the day off and work on my service bed.

Coffee at hand, moving slowly this morning. My 2+ hour weeding marathon last night wore me out, and I went to bed at 9!

But it looks SO much better.

See the HUGE weed pile on the left? It's on top of the septic tank depression, too.

:pop Next?
Septic tanks grow bodacious weeds!!!

:barnie

So... yesterday I paid car insurance (paying for myself, spouse, and FOUR boys that are under the age of 26!!!) So HUGE bill..

And then today I bought a set of tires!!!
:th

The start of the tires was funny, because I forgot that when I swapped to winter tires, I had chunked the worn out summer ones...

So the kids were walking all over trying to find summer tires, when there were NO tires to find. Oops. But that also meant that I had forgotten to budget for a set of tires. Ouch.

A delightful afternoon of weather. The bad stuff arrives suddenly and an hour early. Sheep were on the flood plain. They sheltered in the woods. My weather radio squawked one tornado warning after another.Total of seven. Dogs were in the house. My internet, satellite and NOA weather radios failed almost simultaneously. Well ****. I’m back to sniffing the dirt like Bill Paxton in Twister. Bill Paxton in my driveway. In some alternate universe he’s in my driveway. Ok I’m better. So 90 minutes of lightning and downpours go by and sheep are stranded. I have to wade through quite a bit of knee deep rising water to get them. Leo (who hates being wet) helps. Sheep, by the Grace wade and follow me to the barn. I’m soaked and find that Moses had peed a quart in the house but that’s ok. Nobody lost, no hail. Tornadoes missed us by a mile. Just a mile. I’ll take it. Spring in Texas.

@Blue Sky you had quite the afternoon, but it ended up being ok. I didn’t get the bad weather. The news has hyped up the storm for today, it may or may not be bad.

Coffee is ready. I woke up at 4:00. I’m limping. Yesterday I walked out in the field looking at the sheep. Sheba and Buford started running and play fighting. They slammed into the front of my right knee, the good one that has not been replaced. To my credit, I didn’t fall down. Knee doesn’t bend backwards. I yelled at the dogs and pretended to cry. They stopped, looked sorrowful and Buford grinned. It’s not bad, only annoying.

I only had the one boy driving, it's hard to imagine 4.

@Blue Sky I'm glad everything turned out okay. We lived in Upstate SC in the 1990s, lots of tornadoes came through, but none as close as that. I have seen a green sky, and once I went out in rain that knocked the breath out of me, it was coming down so hard.

And I'm glad the weather missed you, too, @Baymule .

Coffee ready, heading out to finish the hardware cloth over the hoop coop door. It's going to be hot and humid here again, today, and while I can putter through heat I just can't handle it with high humidity.
