Mid 80s yesterday, sleeping last night was toss & turn....too hot, too cool, bathroom call, one leg got a charlie horse cramp, shoulder ached...all over the place!!! Did a truck run over me?? Geesh. I'm up & surprisingly just some minor aches. Guess I'm still alive 😂🤫

With that, I'm having coffee!! Windows open all night has cooled things. Better close soon, before it heats up again. Same temps today & tomorrow. Nice 70* breeze right now. Rains coming Monday. Thankful were not getting the massive storms others are. Alas, hurricane season starts before long. Is there a "season" anymore?? Seems almost year round disasters.

Twenty-four degrees this morning was only 40°F yesterday for highs. It's a rush to get what I can get done this weekend, hopefully fire the excavator up and get some water from the well.

A delightful afternoon of weather. The bad stuff arrives suddenly and an hour early. Sheep were on the flood plain. They sheltered in the woods. My weather radio squawked one tornado warning after another.Total of seven. Dogs were in the house. My internet, satellite and NOA weather radios failed almost simultaneously. Well ****. I’m back to sniffing the dirt like Bill Paxton in Twister. Bill Paxton in my driveway. In some alternate universe he’s in my driveway. Ok I’m better. So 90 minutes of lightning and downpours go by and sheep are stranded. I have to wade through quite a bit of knee deep rising water to get them. Leo (who hates being wet) helps. Sheep, by the Grace wade and follow me to the barn. I’m soaked and find that Moses had peed a quart in the house but that’s ok. Nobody lost, no hail. Tornadoes missed us by a mile. Just a mile. I’ll take it. Spring in Texas.

I have the mobile version on my tablet, sure as saved our vehicles a time or two from major hail 2-3 inch and kept me from being caught in a twister or two out here. I know during summer time I keep it within arms reach watching for development as they liked to slam in the afternoon here and there is no weather station to warn you here. Last summer I watched a twister on it go within a mile from here, but still moved some trees and would of ripped the doors on my pole barn up cause they were open.

Chilly morning, hot coffee is welcome. Yesterday’s dire weather predictions didn’t happen for us thank goodness. We have lived here three years and have had several close calls with severe weather. I’ve noticed that the storms coming from the southwest often take a hard left just before they should arrive. It made me think of Burnett’s Mound in Topeka (spent time there as a child). It’s the tallest feature in the area and was named after 19th century Potawatomi Chief Abram Burnett who was quite a character. He claimed the mound was sacred and no permanent structure should be built on it. Additionally it was believed that the mound protected Topeka from tornadoes coming from the southwest. In 1960 the base of the mound was disturbed by interstate construction. The top was leveled for an enormous water tank. And (wait for it) in 1966 an F5 tornado hit Topeka. The damage was horrible, I saw it for myself a few days after when we went to check on family (no phone service). Needless to say the tank was removed and the mound was reblessed by the Potawatomi. I can’t attest to Topeka’s contemporary storm history but a lot of people think it protects the area. There is a nice visitor center, park and trails at the base.

Glad you all in twisterland are ok. I grew up with the dang things and their green skies, between that and blizzards I'm happy I'm in So Cal (well minus the politics).
46-75 today heading to 89 by Friday - or so says the ever changing forecast. Encountered the second snake 🐍of the year - thank God it was a gopher snake. It was at the barn, Sage trotted right by it. I did the girlie scream (I hate snakes) as my mind processed the head shape, eye pupil and finally the thin pointy tail. Hope it hangs around (but hope I don't girlie scream again - how embarrassing!). The weasel was hanging around the barn and turn-out a month ago - so hopefully the snake will find other tasty morsels.
Played tipsy with the utv . DH used the tractor to put it up right. Thank you all those years of watching Gold Rush! 😁

It’s 48 degrees this morning, high of 56 today. I finally washed my Carhart insulated overalls and coat. Then cold returned. Gonna be lows in the 50’s all week. I guess I washed up my Carharts too soon for end of season. They stay draped over chairs all winter, I put them on in the worst weather to do outside chores. Using this analogy, maybe I should bring them out in July-August, roll them in dirt and wash them. Reckon that might bring on a cold blast?

Rains arrive here tonight, all day tomorrow is predicted. 1-2" total. Who knows, until it happens. I do wish the constant 15mph+ winds we've had all week would go away. Annoying is an understatement. Temps are good though 👍

Got new mower battery yesterday -- boy, have they gone up in price 😲 plus, 2 gates for replacements. May not get those up until next week but, mower is in use now. Tractor starter back Friday. Repairs are breaking the bank.

Sun is out. Coffee tasty. Time to finish yard mowing. Then I'll get the trailer out to use with mower. Have some things to move and a coop to scoop into old feed bags, take to garden area.

Moving slow, six hours on the hoop coop yesterday plus heat towards the end really drained me. Coffee at hand, almost time to prepare for church.

If possible I am going to try to finish up the back of the coop after I get home. First is covering exposed screws, and tightening up the HWC around the door. Still need to finish the apron, too.

Testimony
As an arthritic 64yo woman I avoid ladders. The aftereffects of climbing them are severe cramping and spasms in my feet and lower legs. Yesterday I needed to use a ladder to reach the top of the hoop coop repeatedly. Last night I used DMSO on my feet and legs before bed as a preventative. I woke up about 3am with an episode of pre-spasm tightening in my lower leg, which disappeared after I rubbed in a little extra DMSO.

I'm not selling the stuff, friends, I have no monetary ulterior motive. It works for me, and I want to share.

My mower is still in the shop. The yard is taking over... ☘️☘️☘️
