Anyone else use this type of combo?

I got recommended from a vet to do this combo. These are bottle lambs I am deworming.. they are 2 months old. From eye checks I know they do need to be dewormed.. Just seeing if anyone else uses this combo? (not giving it to them at the same time just using both brands to kill parasites/worms)

Thanks!

Cydectin is good but expensive.
Valbazan should not be used unless you know no one is pregnant.
I use prohibit, which is lavamasol. Works well on barber pole worm which is what would be causing the anemia you are seeing in their eye checks.

How did your vet say to use the combo you asked about?

He just suggested to use both ( I know they are pregnant because the boys were weathered) and they are all 2 months old.. Anyways he just suggested the two he didn't go into much detail thats why I am still a bit confused on the whole thing.

Do you do two different wormings with different brands? Maybe I misunderstood him and he just meant they were good brands to look into..

What parasites were identified?
Eye-checks are only for barberpole worms.

@2 months old, having a fecal sample looked at would be best. Cocci is very heavy at this time of year.
Also, depending on where you live, the rains for many of us have brought on unbelievable problems.

Knowing the kind of parasite will help you determine what de-wormer to use.

I thought the vet already checked and that's what he recommended. But if not....it's a start. But I assume Barber pole since your sheep are anemic.

I do not use 2 wormers together. Not sure why that would be recommended.

I have a different opinion on how we treat for parasites compared to some but it works for us so I will keep the same schedule. We have not been bothered by coccidian in years. But the minute I write that I'm sure we will be hit with it. ;)

I use cydectin in late fall or early winter right before lambing. Then Lavamasole in the spring after the rains. That is usually enough for us. If my sheep look good sometimes I skip it.

This year I had to worm an extra time due to the heavy rains and perfect situation for heavy parasite loads.

Works for us. But at some time I will switch wormers around and pray for a new one to come out before they become resistant to those.
