Greetings all!
I have been lurking a while and thought I should introduce myself since it looks like we MAY be finally moving outta town!! We are in that "counter-to-a-counter-to-a-counter offer" phase in trying to purchase a couple acre property on the far western fringes of the Phoenix-metro area. After 4 disapointments maybe it will work this time!
We have been working hard for the past few years to live a more self-sustaining, prepared, chemical-free lifestyle. Already I have been able to stop taking my meds for type II Diabeties, GERD, High-blood pressure & cholesterol. All that we *have* to buy at the store is our dairy, eggs, & meat - hence the search for a small acreage. We hope to move by early fall and and get the chickens started, then prepare for adding goats to our menagerie of horses, dogs & parrots by early spring. We are looking at getting a Boer buck and whethered buck-buddy and 2 Nubian does. This "herd" should provide the 2 of us with our dairy and meat needs (along with a few laying hens and rooster).
I look forward to reading the bits of advice from all you seasoned pros - and especially from my fellow 'Zonies!
