Up early due to the one cat kneading it's paws on me... always manages to hit the more "delicate" areas... and they really push with the kneading. Wish I could get him trained to do my lower back !!!!!!

Down to 59 so still a nice night/morning. Sun is coming up over the hill so starting off pretty. Fair breeze out there so alot of the leaves will come off the maple.
If we do not get much out of this rain, the leaves will be perfect for putting in the shelter and being "bedding" for the chickens for the winter...

Going to work outside for awhile. DS called and he is in class , so rather than him trying to come back to go test, I will just stop there at the VDOT headquarters that is on the way to the farm...pick him up and go on from there. That will work out okay. I can leave here early then, go by and pick up subs for "supper", and meet him.

BIG CHILL coming tonight and tomorrow night... and looks like there might be very little rain out of it... The line of rain is heading as much north as it is east and seems to be falling apart on the mountains between us and WV....

Heading out to let chickens out and do something for a bit....

No, @Baymule ... not funny... you are getting it a day/2 days ahead of us... But it doesn't look like we will get much if any, of the moisture. It is mostly breaking up as it hits the Allegheny mountain range between us and WV...
Only saving grace is it is going to be only a few days then back to more normal temps of 50's-60's by the end of the week...

Chilly raw damp out. 39 this morning. It sprinkled just a smidgeon last night and don't think we got much of anything. It looked to be dissipating as it came across the mountains on the WV/VA border... and I guess it did.

Got home from testing at about 10:30 last night. It went fine. Dropped DS off at his truck at the headquarters there in town since he was there for classes, and we had gone from there to the farm in the afternoon. It was okay but he just spends all his time on the phone and very little communication anymore. He had a dr appt and I used to go with him alot so we could go to Rural King after but even though I mentioned his appt, he did not even suggest I go so I am just not going to ask anymore. When I asked about the cow moving on Sat he made it out like he needed to get it done and that he moved this and that.... and oh, he had a list for me of who was where... and did not mention that he had all sorts of "company" to do it. And I had to ask what he has been doing. Asked if there were any days that did not suit him for me to get the calves in at the nurse cow pasture to work them and get the one cow/calf pair moved so they will be able to get bred when he puts bulls in for breeding after Thanksgiving. He said, well, not Tuesday (today)... well, duh, he is taking kids trick or treating, then he guessed whenever... I will get them in and tell him they are in and then he can find an excuse to not work them that day.

So, going out to let the chickens out, then bring in all the boxes of samples and get them packed to go out UPS. There are a few things I want to try to get done outside if it is not too wet, then pretty much stay in I think.

Yes, it is an obsession more than "love"... and it just makes me more aware that I need to do more for me and whatever falls, will fall. I will get aggravated and all that, but got to get to the point that he is going to do what he wants, whether it is healthy or not.

Going to work on being more involved with my purebred chickens again... Used to be more active in the Va Poultry breeders club. Since I like my chickens anyway.. need to do more of that. Stayed out of it for a bit due to my ex moving down here and being into it, but his health and driving abilities limits things more now I think... and DS doesn't want to show any chickens anymore so I can get back to being more active without always being under scrutiny by my ex. All complicated with my ankle and knees... but now they are "fixed"....and I can get around better.

It is cold and just raw out there this morning. Going to get the samples in the house now and work on them.

Cold damp and raw out there. We wound up with about .15 of an inch of wet...can't really call it rain since it was more of a misty dampness.

I have been been puttering today, not alot accomplished. Pulled a bunch of stuff out of the freezer to make the next few days... cooked up a big cast iron skillet of onions and forgot to take the liver out.... :th :th :he :he :duc:duc:somad:somad:rant:rant. I like liver and onions.... so went out and got it and it should be thawed now so I am going to go in and make it... even though it is late for supper.
Like @Mini Horses , trying to "eat what I have" more... since I have freezers full of stuff....

It was warmest around midnight when the thermometer reset... got down to 39 and only up to 43 today. Tonight is calling for upper 20's - low 30's... BRRRR.🥶🥶. Oh well, it is late fall..... and the guys will like it for hunting if the nights continue to stay down in the 30's,,,,

I’ve tried to like liver, just can’t. I got 70 pounds of beef liver from a slaughter house for the dogs once, they wouldn’t eat it, not raw or cooked. They sniffed it, gave me dirty looks and walked away. I fried some, nope. I boiled it, sautéed it with eggs, nope. Couldn’t really blame them, I didn’t like it either. I
finally canned small bits in with chicken. That was the only way they would eat that beef liver. I never made that mistake again!

As a kid I hated it and was forced to eat it. I smothered it in ketchup and managed.
Now chicken livers that’s yummy.
Oh and I’ve got a recipe for doggie crack that uses liver (beef or chicken) from back in the day when I did dog shows.
