Closer views of the mountain and some pretty lakes.

It was a beautiful day for a drive and some hikes. We drove to the north side of the National Volcanic Monument first, which had the best views but unfortunately some of the roads and buildings were still closed for the winter. One gift shop was open, so that was nice. I bought a mug.

Then we drove back south and followed a very windy road to a tiny town called Cougar, Washington. That was a lot of beautiful scenery too.

So peaceful, such a contrast. I remember when it blew up (I wasn't there).

You got some great photos!! I live in Vancouver, right across from Portland. When driving around, I can see Helens and Mt. Hood.
I just looked on the map, and that is very close to here! We drove past there on the freeway, but I guess I didn’t notice the signs for it.

We did notice Hazel Dell, because that’s the name of the main road near where we live in Indiana.

Wow! Those are amazing shots. Such beautiful country.
I also remember when it blew.... middle school.... so 7th, 8th or 9th grade.. ? I DO remember that my science teacher was HOT 😛 & obsessed by it. We studied nothing else for a couple of weeks. 🤣
Odd, I don't remember his name but I can picture his face

Chick hatching season has finally arrived! Later than I usually do it because we had our trip planned and I didn’t want the chicken sitter to have to deal with chicks. So I didn’t set any eggs until the timing was right to do lockdown a few days after I got back.

The first chick hatched last night and today will be like popcorn. I need to get some brooders set up quick!

So far some Easter Eggers and some speckled Sussex.

(And, I don’t normally crowd the hatcher that much. Fingers crossed that the bottom ones make it.)
