Put fly spray on it labeled for screw worms or maggots (if it's labeled for another species of fly, my guess is it probably won't work...think of it like internal parasite control: a tapeworm product won't kill roundworms). I banded my ewe lamb (her tail) and 3 days I found her tail fallen off (which should've taken 2 weeks) and the open wound was being consumed by maggots To treat it, I picked out the maggots (if it were on a full grown animal I probably would've skipped this step) and I sprayed it with iodine and prozap screwworm spray. Prozap screwworm spray acts as a preventative and treatment--it kills and prevents eggs and maggots. You can also spray it on your premises/in your barns to kill adult flies.
