That’s so pretty. You are getting a lot done, your hard work is showing up and looking like a peaceful place to enjoy sitting for a bit to relax.

Thanks!

I'm also trying to get all the more labor intensive work done before the heat and humidity hit. Then I will be just doing maintenance.

While I was looking for the welded wire fence yesterday I discovered two more bales of peat moss, woo! I may start working it into the future blueberry patch area.

With the raised beds close, I'd put wood chips or shavings thick on ground between. No mow or clean up then! Smother grasses. ☺️. It'll look good, too.
I've been using cardboard, but I have used cypress or cedar chips in the past. They just disappear so quickly, I'd need a cheap/free source!

My raised beds were created with the Hugelkulture method, bottom half was all wood, branches, even small logs. Within a few months the wood is gone, broken down naturally.

Setup in progress, December 2023. That's the afore-mentioned carpeting in the background, where I am currently digging a blueberry bed.

Aside from the big log, the wood in the raised bed is all gone. When I turn the soil it's all...soil.

Came home from church, and decided to start on the blueberry patch.

I spaced them out diagonally just under 4'.

I dug around the pot.

Added three large coffee cans of peat moss around the pot.

Dug it in thoroughly

Then I dug another 5"-6" down in the middle, added three shovel-fulls of peat moss in the deeper area, mixed it well.

Three holes prepared, three more to go...I just got a little warm and needed to cool off.

If I can get the holes all prepared before my body gives out I may transplant tonight...or I can do it after work tomorrow.
