This morning I was awake at 2am, then 4:30, and 6:30...then I got up and made coffee. I got to use a brand new unopened canister, woo!

Then I dropped off a couple old pillows at the animal shelter (kitties love them) and then stopped at the farmers' market. Picked up some half price Rome apples for another apple/cranberry pie, an onion for pot roast, and a jar of honey from my favorite beekeeper. They have different types of raw honey, and I have been enjoying the "fall" variety one spoonful every day.

After I got home and fed the chickens and wild birds I decided to tackle the living room. We had to put the hospital bed in there, and since it's been gone I've been working on spot cleaning the carpet. A 5x7 washable rug is now covering the old carpet, recliner positions were switched, lots of decluttering accomplished. It's still not Southern Living 🤣 but I now am willing if someone wants to stop by and visit.

I noticed yesterday that one of my pullets, Esther, had an open sore on her neck, so I put some Hibiclens on it after dark. Today I noticed Priscilla has the same type of wound, same place. I treated both tonight. It was suggested that one of the cockerels might be a little rough. I hope it isn't Zacchaeus, he's the roo I want to breed.

Roosters can be such a pain. When my middle granddaughter was about 2, I had a mean rooster. I kept saying, I’m gonna kill that mean rooster! She’d pipe up with, Kill that rooster!
Finally one day I did. I made a pot of mean rooster soup. She ate 3 bowls of soup. She asked for another bowl of mean rooster soup, and added, put some of that rooster juice in there too!

From then on, everything had to be a mean rooster or she wouldn’t eat it. If they went out to eat and got her chicken nuggets, they assured her that it was Mamaw’s mean rooster. 😃😃😃

This past week, the girls asked for mean rooster soup. I got a half chicken from the freezer and we had soup!

I needed this laugh.

When I headed back to the bedroom to get dressed this morning I briefly thought about being quiet so I don't wake up Ron.

Composure crumbled, and I cried, a little.
