We brought Cleo back in the house before we buried her, so Debbie would be aware of the situation. Poor Debbie, Cleo's been her best friend since we brought her inside as a 4 week old kitten.

I have let my "rescue" friend know that I am ready for a successor for Cleo. I don't like being without a dog. They have lots of adorable puppies...but I don't want a puppy, I feel it's not fair to keep it crated while I am at work.

The Right One will turn up.

Today's To Do list has been started.

Hoop Coop #2 List (not necessarily in order):
1. Paint metal wall with Rust-Oleum
2. Mount metal wall
3. HWC over hoop coop
4. Wirebrush tin roof
5. Make doorframe
6. Make door (cattle panel?)

There's a 5'x7' severely stained rug outside, I might see if I can get it on top of the tarp end of Hoop Coop #1. The feral cats have been climbing on top of HC1, and I can see holes in the tarp from their claws. In the past I've used old carpet in the yard as weed block, but after yellow jackets made colonies underneath carpeting the last two years I don't think I want to do that again. I also don't want to add anything to the landfill unless necessary, so...why not try reusing that carpet as a roof cover?

An Arctic Blast is forecast for later in the week, so these tasks for today are essential:
1. Cover newly planted vegetable bed with plastic
2. Clean out and refill rubber tub waterer

I'd like to do a dump run, but it may not happen this week.

Since this is to be a permanent coop, unlike my piece of crap coop, you might consider using tin to cover the top. Yes, you would have to go buy it, yes you would have to buy 1x4’s to put on the inside and screw the tin to. It would take you on the outside and probably your son on the inside. But it would be permanent and much better than a tarp.

It was only 40° when I headed outside, but I started working anyway.

It's not quite 2pm, but it's been five hours and I am feeling beat. I think I have earned a break.
