I really like the looks of these pigs, and am interested in getting a sow for pork and feeder pig production. I also have a lot of overgrown area that they could clear for us too....anyone have GOS pigs? I really like their spots, and they need breeders.

I would like to start with a sow and a barrow. I could breed the sow and eat the barrow. Thoughts?

Thank you! (they need a pig emoticon!)

By crossbreeding, I meant, what is a common breed I wouldn't have to travel far to find that you could breed the sow to to produce meat fast growing offspring?

Your in the northeast. There are several breeders in your area. Check the www.gosamerica.org website. Most do not sell their barrows. They raise them and sell pork.

We have a nice GOS boar and two hampshire sows. The two breeds produce very good pork. The hamps also have calm personalities in general.
