I have a nanny milk goat that we’ve been fighting with worms in. Went out to give her an iron injection yesterday (not her first). She wiggled a bit while getting the shot. Immediately after she fell down kinda twitching. We got her stood up but then she just stayed in the same exact position not moving for the rest of the night. I haven’t been able to get out to check on her yet this am, but any ideas as to what it could be? Anyone else ever experience this?

You may have hit a nerve, goats are particularly sensitive to this problem. I've definitely seen this happen in goats, and sometimes sheep. Where did you give the injection?

And don't know if you know, but iron injections aren't good to give long term, I think it's the liver or kidneys in small ruminants that get taxed. But temporarily giving 2-3 shots for anemia from barber pole you should be fine.

Let us know how she's doing this morning!

Thanks for the helpful advice. She had finally moved from her spot when I went to check on her. She still looks a little under the weather from the worms but at least she’s getting around now.
