I've gotten all my show animals! I got my angus show steer, my 4 suffolk market lambs, my 3 yorkshire market hogs and my suffolk ewe, Olive! I've been working with Olive and I just started training my other lambs and hogs. I can't wait til the show in May!

my last year in 4H, I went to dominate the shows. i ended up taking 18 dairy heifers, plus 4 milk cows for a one day ordeal (30 some head dairy show); 3 hogs (200 head hog show), 75 sheep (150 head sheep show), 12 beef heifers (80 head beef show), and a goat (200 head goat show). I had every animal looking very near 100 percent for each's show- with time to goof off, and zero help from my parents. Not to mention my crops- which swept show- and the 2 gallons of wheat that I sifted through kernel by kernel by the handful...

I ended up with Champion Gilt, Champion Dairy Doe, every champion in the sheep show, and every champion in the dairy show. I won every showmanship, accept 1- which was sheep-- my main focus-- only b/c I had won it the year before; and we have a stupid rule that says if you win it one year, you Must sit out the next.

Interesting note; the hogs were my tinker around and goof off ordeal-- in the two years I had them-- i showed 5 pigs.. and remained undefeated with all five-- 4 first places, 2 champions, a reserve, and a 2nd place-- to another one of my class winners... I guess that just goes to show- you invest in good quality stock- and feed/ show them right- you'll have success.

even though I had a tremendously competitive 4H career-- my goal now is national shows; which I have bred winners at 10 state fairs, and louisville.

My success basically set the table for my younger cousins to step right in and win-- however.. most are too lazy to do that, and can't even clip their heifer calves.

cheers to the 4H'ers who give a darn.
