I have been reading and reading on here and will do the next ones myself, but I wanted to see it done at least once first. I took them to a breeder that literally does a hundred a year with no scurs so I'm assuming she knows what she is doing.

That being said... she burned for 3 seconds, lifted and blew a little and about 1 second more and knocked off the bud, all the way down to the skull! Then sprayed them with blue kote. I thought I was going to pass out! :hit

Is this normal, going down to the skull on all of them every time? :th

Are you sure it was the skull? They should have a nice rust/orange ring around the bud. I'm guessing what you saw was normal. I too hate disbudding, but I also believe that in the long run it is the best idea for the goats in our family.

White is the skull. I have done this before. It may be the only way to be sure you will not have any scurs. Especially on bucks.
They will be fine. They are really nice looking kids. :)
