Hi everybody,
I just found this site last night.
I am an old lady who lives in a little mountain town in Oregon. I babysat for a friend's 3 wethers last winter as she winters in Mexico. I enjoyed them so much, that after she returned and collected her goats, I went with some of my grandkids (I have 7) and bought 3 of my own Nigerian dwarfs. We thought we would be able to "pick out" the kids of our choice, but the lady who was selling them, did not have the wethers separated from the does or other boys. Every time one of my grandkids would pick up one, and say "this one is soooooo cute.." she would say, "Oops, sorry, that one's a girl too." So we ended up with 3 wethers that look almost alike. They are all light brown with black markings. They are cute, they look like miniature deer. My friend's Nigerians were different colors, one dark brown, one black&white, and the other light tan. So it was much easier to tell who the leader was...and who the trouble-maker was. (Not that any of them have been any trouble) I put different colored collars on mine so I'd know what name to call them. (My grandchildren named them.) I sure do enjoy watching them, I never knew what cute little characters goats are! I even started a youtube channel showing my goats at play. Check them out my putting lavslady in the search box at youtube.

Hi and thank you all. I have a question about navigating around this site. I don't know how to find stuff. I like to look at pictures and videos, and when I click on the box at the top...it takes me there, but I'm only able to see like 5 pictures...how can I see the "pictures of the weeks" ...past?

Hi and welcome! :frow
My two ND does look like you describe your wethers. Mostly brown with black markings on face and look like small deer. They are also very hard to tell apart unless they are standing next to each other.
I'm new too and don't think I've found all the great info on this site yet either. Just poke around when you can. You'll run across some good stuff! And be sure not to skip over the older posts. I've found some answers there without having to ask.

Hi and thanks for the welcome MsDeb. :frow
One of my boys is a slightly lighter color tan and has "hangy-down" things on his neck. (I hadn't noticed them when I bought them.) I asked a neighbor if he knew what they were, and he said he didn't...but asked if I was sure that they had been neutered? Because the only one he'd ever seen was on a billy goat. I laughed, and said I KNOW they aren't testicles, so what would that have to do with it?
So I emailed the lady I bought them from, and she explained that they were called "waddles" and both males & females can have them. They have no purpose other than to be pretty. She said they are considered "goat jewelry", so my granddaughter says, "Charley has bling".;)
