Great pic there! There are a few things to know about sheep and goats together that ya may not know. They have different dietary needs, and there are minerals, namely copper, that sheep can't have, but goats have to have. It is toxic to sheep. So, just be careful to read feed bags to see what they contain. Also, they would be happier for ya to add another of each when ya are able. Welcome from NW Mississippi!..:frow and the info in the Forums and Threads will really help ya on your Journey...:) again...:welcome

Actually, sheep DO need copper. Just not in the amounts that goats need and tolerate it. Copper can also be toxic to goats if fed in high enough amounts.

Thank you for that it is an important factor. I did do some research before putting them together. I make sure the sheep isn't getting any copper. I also made sure to get a sheep that was relatively the same size and with horns. We got the goat first as a rescue just when we were thinking about a getting sheep. Of course once we had a lone goat she needed a friend and we decided to stick with the sheep idea. So here we are with one of each but I'm sure we'll expand. The more the merrier. lol :D Any other tips? They seem happy together.

Welcome from NY!!! I love Shetlands! Good luck with getting into animals. They are lots of fun to keep, but prepare to have no money.

It's good that ya did some research, and they are getting along well together. From the pic they look fairly young and before long "Nature" will kick in and they may still be friends, but a sheep will never be a goat...and a goat will never be a sheep...each will end up Happier with another that speaks its "Language". We only have goats, so I am not experienced with sheep and not with them together. I'll call in some that know way more than me...:) @Latestarter @Baymule @purplequeenvt @babsbag @norseofcourse any one of these will steer ya right.
