Greetings from Djibouti Africa

Hello Everyone!!! My name is Rosie Moore (SugaWuga). I am currently a full-time Soldier in the U.S. Army. I have been in almost 11 years come this April. I have 3 deployments under my belt and I am currently on my 4th in Djibouti, Africa. I am also a full-time student majoring in Agricultural Science with a minor in Horticulture. I have decided to end my career of being a Soldier to persue my dream of becoming a self-sustainable farmer. I have been spending countless hours studying due to my classes and doing research for my new farm life. I even purchased 6 acres of land high in the Rocky Mountains of Alamosa, CO. So I am supper excited about that. I was hoping to meet some fellow BackYardies that are in Colorado or in the Alamosa area that can give me a few pointers about raising goats in the that part of the region. I have 2 years left in the Army and then my daughter and I will be off to enjoy a less stressful, happier and exciting life as Farmer SugaWuga.

Welcome! I'm kinda new here myself but did live in the Alamosa area for several years awhile back. Unfortunately at that time I didn't keep livestock so I can't help there. Love the cool, dry, mountain area, and that the summers don't get too hot. Unfortunately that means the winters are long and the growing season shorter than I'm now accustomed to.
