Gretchen is a kiko meatmaker. She has been very large since the end of December. I thought she would go at any time. As the time went on, I started expecting triplets. And then about 8pm on Valentines day I checked on her and there they were. 3 little white babies. One was not moving, the other 2 were walking about. The one that wasn't moving I grabbed, tried to clear his air way and rub him to get him started. I took him inside and tried for awhile. No luck. Hubby buried the little buck while I checked on mom and the other 2. She was passing the after birth and the babies were hunting for teats. I checked the other 2 and they are both does. We have a bad storm rolling in. They are in a 300 gallon water tank with a hole big enough for mom to go in and out. There is a good layer of hay and I added more.

I don't have access to electricity were they are at, so I don't know if maybe I should coat the little ones. What do you guys think?

It couldn't hurt to put sweaters on them, just in case. If they get too hot, you can always take them off again.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your buckling, we had stillborn triplets last Saturday. It's always tough sad when that happens, but at least you got two healthy little girls.

Congratulations on your 2 does and sorry for the loss of your buck. Pictures?

Like Ariel said, it wouldn't hurt to put coats on them.

VERY Cute! Love the stock tank idea. Nice way to recycle an item & have a home cheaper than a calf hutch.
