@animalmom - Great gift! So nice of you. Great start for cassandra's rabbitry! :hugs Tremendous money saver to start off!

The double cages - can be used as grower cages until time to breed your does. Then you can build new 36 x 30 babysaver cages. You can ever have enough cages, pens, corrals, barns, etc. etc. LOL

We went to the rabbit show yesterday. Cassandra has confirmed she want's Standard Rex rabbits. One of the breeders we talked to said they had to be in AC because of the coat type. I'm thinking that's BS since I stalked FB rex pages and saw plenty of outside setups.

I'm trying to figure out where to place the rabbitry. I have a 11'x17' carport frame to re-tin. We have steady to super strong breeze from the West spring - fall. The winter wind is out of the north. There aren't many tall trees near the house. The big pecan south of playground is dead and dropping huge limbs.

Ignore the debris in photo, this was taken after windstorm killed the tarp garages. The trampoline is between 2 trees to get some shade. I was thinking just north of the trampoline to try and get some shade? Or just leave frame where it is next to house and plan on big ass fan. Either way, I plan on painting topside of tin with the elastomeric sun reflecting paint used on RVs.

Rabbit genetics are soo complicated. The chocolate and lilacs are so pretty.

I think they would also be easiest to get consistently since they are the self recessive colors? Then I would only need to worry about extension gene oops making non-showable patterns? Correct?

Don’t breeders keep their colors true? I didn’t mix my colors. You wind up with mud. When I bred the chinchilla Satins, occasionally a black “sport” would pop up in a litter, but I never crossed the colors.
