Nice! We have been pretty cold, so my bees haven't been foraging. I noticed yesterday that my French lavender is still in bloom.

I'm presently under a foot of fresh snow, so needless to say my bees are no where to be seen and nothing is in bloom either...

Any guess what the bright orange pollen is? I saw the bees here bringing in some like that last month and couldn't figure what was in bloom.

Late starter - we are supposed to get slammed with a storm starting tomorrow and lasting all week. Even calling for snow on Christmas where I am. So after its through with us, it will be headed to you!

Awesome Chooks! You guys need that moisture, especially up in the sierras. As I recall, your snow pack has been terrible the past few years. Of course you can well do without the associated landslides and flooding issues down by the coast...

It is desperately needed here. The snow pack so far has a great start. Last year, there was virtually no snow in the mountains. The last storm we had piled on several feet in the mountains and blizzard conditions. This storm will hopefully have as much moisture, or more.

I'm fairly low for snow, so if it comes down to us, then it is really adding up in the mountains.

The areas where the weather is really tough are the fire areas. There is nothing to hold the soil down.

Hmmm, no dandelions here in Nov. so still an unknown.

As far as the snow and rain...I was looking at Accuweather and a special weather statement for our area and they had typed 1-2' of rain in the valley and 2-4' of rain in the foothills. And then 4-12' of snow in the mountains. I went :ep:ep:ep

We DO NOT measure rain in FEET. What the heck. So I checked weather.com and read the same statement and was relieved to see that accuweather had used ' when they should have used " Boy was I glad to see that.

It did rain here all day but don't think we even got an inch. But is was enough...thank you very much.
