As a newbie I like to introduce myself.
I am a Dutch/Kiwi/Cowboy and plan to retire 4 years from now on a small piece of land in Whitney Texas.
We bought about a 6 acres wooded and with a small pasture approx. 3 to 4 acres.
At the moment we are only in the weekends there and holidays so it is difficult to have any animals but that will give me 4 years of time to learn in here.
I wonder if I could at least maybe raise a longhorn in the meantime.but first I need to learn how.
All advice welcome and appreciated as that why I am here for to listen to those with experience.
Thanks for listening to me

Hello and welcome as additions to the ever-growing group of Texans. We are not too far away in Salado. Did exactly as you are ... spent weekends/holidays on the farm until finally getting to make the big move. The transition from city slickers to country folks was so easy, and we have amassed quite a collection of "stuff", as well as angus cattle, chickens, goats and dogs. Can't figure out when we ever had time to work!
