Greetings and welcome to BYH @BatHound Start convincing DH! You'll absolutely love having some goats (or sheep). We have great folks from both camps here so browse around and ask questions! Make yourself at home!
Thanks for the welcome @Hipshot , @Latestarter , @Chicken Girl . I hope I tagged you all correctly. Hipshot, I think the non animal people are the ones who are off lol. Latestarter, I'm working on him. Chicken Girl, love your quote.
Thanks for the welcome @norseofcourse . I'm not sure what kind I should get yet. We had a couple of goats in the yard when I was growing up and I enjoyed them a lot. I remember they like to jump on things and climb, so I think I need a smaller breed that can't jump over our 4 foot fence?
OH NO! You're looking at it all wrong! You need to pick the breed of goat you want and then HOPE that your fence is sufficient, only to find that it isn't and needs to be replaced. I mean remember how it's done with chickens? It's really quite similar... what came first, the chickens or the coop?
Welcome to BYH! Hope all goes well with your goats. Whenever i wanted to get a new animals, my parents made me write a paper about what kind of housing they would need, what they would need to eat, how expensive they, their feed, and building supplies for their housing were, if they were useful, and if so, in what way.
