How inconsiderate of me! I reside in beautiful western N.Y. state, the "Enchanted Mountain" region. We get cold, snowy winters, wet springs (when we are lucky!) Good hot summers, and GORGEOUS autumn foliage. It's great to be here on this forum, you all are very kind to us that are justs starting out.
Welcome from VA! Remember that MOST of us were "just starting out" at some point. Only a few were born into & continued this pleasant journey. Some had exposure, left, returned.
There is such a WEALTH of information here, generally shared for just the asking. Butcher, baker, candlestick maker -- most every background you could imagine, plus the teachings of experience (which was sometimes being thrown in to sink or swim type).
Your goats are lovely and I really like that turquoise paint...
Glad to be here, and thanx to everyone for the warm welcome
We hope to get the tan and white nigerian (we named her ButterCup) breed come December, for milking, and MORE GOATS!
They are mainly pets. I hope the little brown and white nigerian ( we named her DixieCup!) Gets a little bigger! She and Buttercup are from the same litter. The weather Alpine/Nigerian mix (named Pontiac) is considerably larger than the two girls. I think he is probably as big as he is going to be.
Got putting together a play set last night and the goats are treating it like it's for them!!!!
You mean it ISN'T for them? What kind of goat owner are you? All things climable are for the goats.
Your Alpine/Nigi cross wether is a mini Alpine and he should be bigger than your girls; my minis are only about 6 months old and almost as big as their sire.
Welcome from NH! I also have Nigerians and Mini Alpines and my mini Alpines, at 4 months old are as tall as my adult Nigerians. I keep looking at my buckling who is only 2 weeks younger than them and way smaller in amazement at how tiny he is! My mini alpines are also amazing jumpers and love climbing even more than the other goats!
