I ended taking her in today. The area has doubled in size since last night and puss above eyebrow. She had top of her head shaved. I have meds topical and oral. She's in with the nursing ewe since that is the only non muddy area I have.

Ugh... City-idiot neighbor may be calling Cleburne animal control and Sheriff on me. Just what I needed
~10:30am- Hera chewed thru / snapped hay string and broke out of the maternity pen. Sheep were visibly scared by something off camera.

10:56am- She and Leo proceeded in hot pursue of 2 somethings across the north fence after chasing it around pond dam. Camera only caught 2 darkish blurs followed by 2 light colored blurs at very edge of range

11:23- Female neighbor called me after getting number off Hera's collar. She was very concerned that someone would shoot my dogs and they had been out a lot. I calmly explained about north fence being a mess with high water not allowing hot wire. How Leo has figured out when he can get an hour wander in before I can get off work.
I stated if Hera was off property she had most likely chased something away from my sheep. She stated that she had nowhere safe to keep Hera since she had dogs. She was absolutely AGHAST that I didn't drop everything and drive home to get her and that I told her to NOT restrain Hera. Apparently evening chores, ~8pm was FAR too long for Hera to be unattended.
She also went on and on about how horrible Hera's head looked. That she needed vet care immediately. I politely pointed out that she went to vet on Thursday as obvious from her SHAVED head. The neighbor then told me that my vet didn't do a good enough job. :he

~11:32- Leo did a line drive back thru woods and same gap to sheep. Hera followed him part way then decided she was going to take the easy path down road. She then spent the next several hours relaxing on neighbors covered front porch until we got home.

~6pm- We got home from water park birthday party and I walked her into sheep area. All sheep accounted for and in good shape. Leo was on duty close by.

8pm- I successfully shoved Hera's medicine down her throat without getting bit. Head was swabbed with chlorohexidine then the prescription spray was applied.

Yes, city idiots. Animals get out -- some more easily than others. LGDs protect livestock. Unless you are taking/harming their livestock, they usually bother nothing beyond "the" offender-- and return home!

It's like my jumping goats who clean weedy ditches! City neighbor calls the law.

I feel your pain 🥴 wish they'd stay in the city!!!😡
