Ok so maybe since I am new to being around goats, I freaked out a lttle too much?
It looks to me now that his hoofs just need a really good trimmin.
I don't know so, you know what you need to do my fellow seasoned goat farmers, tell me what you think.

Yup, those are really bad. A lot of it is due to his limb conformation...but yes the crux of it is neglect. The toe should be the same length as the heel.

You'll want to have some blood stop powder when you finally tackle them.

I would do a little at a time. Wait a week or few days and do a bit more because the quick of the nail is probably grown down really low too.

Don't panic, my rescued girl's were far, far worse. It has taken many careful trims, and her fronts look good. The hind feet will take some more time, as the quick is now at the surface and the feet don't look good yet. Much better, though, so I think of it as a many month project, as they grow and get trims they will gradually shape up.

I'd go slow with her as well. Trim off a little and wait a week and then trim off a little more.. etc.

Yes, the styptic powder you use for dogs works great.
