Now that Waylon seems to have beaten UC i am wondering about a worming schedule for him and Willie. How often do you worm and what wormer do you prefer ?

You should always run a fecal first. The wormer depends on what type of worms you are dealing with.

Glad to hear Waylon is getting better!

Worming on a schedule breeds resistant parasites, promise you. It is an old practice that now is known to cause deworming agents to become ineffective.

What works best is to once a year, take a nice fresh baggie of berries to a vet or send them to a lab for testing. It is not pricey and is much cheaper than wasting money on the wrong medication or than trying to save a heavily loaded animal when meds don't work anymore.

We also test does a few days after kidding, any animal that is new to the property, and animals that have been off property (like when we go to fair).

I only worm my girls the day after kidding and my buck around the same time, but that's about it.

Every time they need it. But that isn't very often. I often deworm every 6 months just to make sure.
