Our cat got injured by another animal a few days ago. We are guessing a bunny. The wound is infected and we have been draining it and cleaning it w/Peroxide and anti-bacterial cream.

I was wondering if it would help to use the tylan 50 I have to clean the wound. Or possibly to inject it into the cat? I know that you have to be very careful w/the Tylan but I also know that we've had good luck w/it and our chickens.

Any thoughts? We are trying to avoid the vet becuase it's always $100 and money is tight w/the DH still out of work.

I'm not sure about Tylan with cats.

I would recommend Penicillin. The dose is 1 ml/cc IM for the average sized adult cat. If mildly infected, give once a day. If more infected you can give twice a day.

Do you think that is something that can be bought at TSC?

Yes, you should be able to buy penicillin at any farm supply store. Look for it in the cooler.

Yeah, I dont recommend Tylan for cats. It will probably sting like mad and also getting a proper dose for such a small animal would be tough. Pennicilian works great on cats :)
