How big is she? If she is small, 3 pints may be just what she could handle at first. Great that she took a pint on her own. SHe may just need rest now. A midnight snack might be in order if you are feeling generous.
Otherwise, if she is dry and fluffed in straw, a dog house will be fine and don't be surprised if the pups keep her company and warm.
Oh.. then there is the calf--poo-treats... ugh ;)

I just checked on her, she seems a little more perky!
Dad headed over to get the "real" colostrum for her! I would feel better if I get some of that in her!

As for size, mama was mostly easy calving limo with a touch of jersey. I'm really bad at guessing weights, so I will just say, she is bigger than a jersey calf! Bigger than I expected.

The dog house is more of a straw and sawdust filled room! After spending most of the day in there, I can tell you it's pretty comfy!
I am sure my Bart dog would love to keep her warm,(and the calf chewies) but I don't trust my Bernie dog. He still new at this calf thing and hasn't figured out they are NOT toys, so the room is shut!
Bruiser on the other hand, gave her a few kisses and layed down to watch her, like he worships her?

Hard births can take a lot out of the calf too! It sounds like with the colustrum and rest she is coming around.

She sucked down 2 pints.
She had moved out from under all the stuff I had piled on her, but still can't seem to stand up.

Keep the milk warm and try some more later.

Does she try to stand? Is it a case of being wobbly and falling over? Do you have some Selinium injectable on hand? It sounds like she could use some.

It's like she just don't have the strenth to get all the way up.

If I have any Selinium injectable, it's probably older than dirt!
Dad might have some in pill form, would that work?

Pill form? For cattle? I don't think he has any. I think it only comes in injectable and she's going to need only a very small dose.

MuSe is 1 cc for 200 lbs. Intramuscle (IM)

She just drank 3 pints, the way a calf should drink!
Then she slobbered all over me, the way calves like to do!
I'm soaked!
