He is adorable, and as much as I think I'd like a little one like him in the house, have to agree with Pioneer Chicken's advice...I would try that for sure. Just makes good sense to me.
Somewhere in BYH I posted a story about the teeniest pygmy goat ever. She was an indoor bottle baby who we dubbed "Sparkie's Pet" because she and the Schipperke were great pals. Alas, she out grew her playpen and it was time for her to be a goat. It was summer and high kidding season, so we waited until she was bigger in size than some of the new youngsters. We put her out with the herd (it was a communal barn with free roaming goats), made sure she wasn't getting picked on and took bottles to her regularly. I'm happy to say she decided to be a goat, especially since her new companions were with her more than the dog once she hit the barn.
Update to the mess I've made...
His breathing seemed a little raspy so I took him into see the vet...after 2 hours of loving on him and having pictures made...he's got an infection in his lungs...advised to keep him in for a WHILE till we get this cleared up. A shot and a daily dose of meds we should be ok. So we've been bringing 3 other babies in to "socialize" they made fun of the diapers so we take them off when they come in. Has anyone else fed their babies oats? Was told it would be good for him.
