Our family purchased 6 Katahdin ewes and a ram in late October. They were born in May of 2023. Am I wrong to assume they were likely bred over the winter and will lamb come April-June? We work during the day and so I didn’t see much “action”.They have definitely grown but I haven’t had them checked with an ultrasound or vet checked. Thanks

Absorbing all input.
Want to 'adopt' several (1 ram-? and 2 lambs) this coming year.
I wean ram lambs at 2 months old. So plan on keeping your lambs separated. Ram lambs can and often will start breeding at 3 months old. Pen them separately so your ewe lambs aren’t bred too young.

@RoseTeas Consider starting with 2 ewe....once they are old enough to breed, add the ram. You only need a ram for breeding. Unless you want to produce lambs to raise, no need for him at all. What do you plan for your farm? Are you wanting lamb for freezer fill? Just want pets? Do you have any livestock now?

@Adonaifarms how is you little flock doing? Did you ewes lamb out? We love pics🥰
