1/6/25 Moved Snickers to new paddock. Needs moving more often when he's in a smaller fenced paddock.

1/7/25 Move day for everyone! Snickers and ewes have same size paddock now, right next to each other. All is well.

Hasn't been too bad these past 2 days with the cold weather, only had to bring boiling water out once each morning. Moving the sheep to new paddocks and setting up fences is getting easier. We are learning to work smarter not harder.
Fence is back to 10.9V
I have observed the flock drinking more water today, was a bit worried since I noticed a few days ago they weren't drinking any even though I had the pan full and clean. It's good to see them drinking.

How is it going? Hasn't been too bad over here. I also lived in Illinois for 12 years though so this doesn't seem too bad to me.

In 20’s at night but above freezing during day. I bust ice in morning and it thaws out during the day. So the snow and ice never happened. It’s a big deal because there is no snow equipment to deal with it, we are idiots and don’t know how to drive on it and the body shops are delighted. Our usual snows are a 3 day event, it snows 2-3” by day 3 it’s melting and gone. That throws everyone in a panic. A week or longer in sub freezing temperatures is a disaster in the south. Our northern neighbors laugh at us. It’s no big deal to them.

I’ve lived in hurricane country all my life except for the few years we lived in Lindale. So I prepare for hurricanes, they are a liquid snowstorm with mosquitoes and miserable heat. LOL
No power, no gasoline, no grocery stores are open, even Walmart closes down, windows all boarded up. FEMA shows up with cases of water, ice and MREs. I never needed that stuff but got in line for it anyway so I could give it to people who didn’t prepare for having nothing. I’ve sheltered people in my home, worked in Red Cross shelters and stood in line in the rain waiting to get into Lowe’s to buy tarps to cover the roof because a giant oak tree fell on the house. Longest I ever went without power was 3 weeks. I’m far enough inland now that most of the hurricane damage blows out before it gets to me. But this past summer hurricane Beryl blew through here, blew the middle out of a open front shed, picked up the hoop shelter on the front field, tossed it over the driveway and into the middle field. It blew down an oak tree in the back field and blew down an American persimmon tree in the sheep lot.

Your sheep are doing well and look happy. Sheep are amazing creatures. Lambs are the best!
