I just love wildlife - on TV programs and in the distance. On my property eating my garden and hay I understand why ranchers eradicated the Golden Grizzly in California, wolves in Montana and Wyoming. Only PETA and people that live in condos in town want to reintroduce these species - and they want to reintroduce them in ranch country!

This is a true story about a rabbit breeder friend of ours. They retired and moved to the "country" where they not only continued breeding their rabbits but also kept chickens. They enjoyed seeing all the wildlife around them, but they had raccoons getting in after the chicken eggs. One night hearing a lot of squawking, the husband took his air rifle and went out to scare off the raccoon. A few minutes he came back in and told his wife "I need a bigger gun". There was a bear in the chicken coop. LOL

Yes, they rebuilt the coop and fortified it.

That would give you an idea of how deep a well may need to be drilled.
Might be only a small idea depending on how old the records are. Way too many people sucking water out of the aquifers since they were first tapped into. I've read of farmers in CA having to repeatedly drill their current well deeper. And deeper is hundreds of feet.

He doesn't think it will pay out (cost/savings/??).
A new well would likely cost you $20K or more and if your neighbors well water is salty, yours will be too.

If we shoot a deer I want to do it legally, so I don't have to worry about the game wardens.
Good idea, we don't want you posting from jail for jacking deer ;)
