HI All,

I have a quick question on 2nd cut hay. We have a sheep guy (we got 4 sheep from him) wanting to sell us 2nd cut bales. We have goats and sheep, one male goat so far, might have a 2nd one soon.... BF said he read some where that 2nd cut can be bad for male goats? They possibly get stones from the richer hay... is this true, the male goat is about 4 1/2 months old. Just curious on the hay we could use it for the other animals too.

Thanks!

Has nothing to do with the cut. It has to do with balancing the calcium to phosphorus ratio with their entire diet. The ratio should be at least 2:1 calcium to phosphorus.

Thanks a bunch! I did some reading on it as well and could not find anything saying different than what you stated. Appreciate the response!
