You need to put up a higher fence and get an LGD. Not later, but sooner! With lambs coming it is a necessity and something important to put money into. .

I am SO EXCITED!!!! I posted on Facebook about the lamb and coyote issues. The sheep farmers I bought my Oklahoma 6 from replied that they had finished herd sellout but still had their LGD to rehome. They offered me Hera, 7yr old spayed Anatolian. Current plan is to drive to get her over new years.

Excellent move. Very lucky to get a well-trained and trusted LGD. BUT you need to make sure your fences are in place before she arrives. Even though she is a trained LGD, she will need the fences to determine where her territory begins and ends. How she was trained will be important. You need to have a conversation with the current owners to find out any personality peculiarities, how she guards, whether she is food aggressive when feeding her, and behavior to newborn lambs. Also, if she is an aggressive or suspicious Anatolian they are great with the family but can be a loaded gun around strangers. If she has not been around children before, she will probably like them, but start slowly. Also be sure to get a replacement LGD in another year or so in order for this trained dog to train it. Much easier to train an LGD if they have an older, well-trained dog to mimic behavior.

So happy for you. BTW, if she bets Bruno up don't worry about it. Female Anatolians can be very dominant and will beat up on other dogs in the household who don't show them the respect and polite behavior they feel is due them. LOL

I finished the feeding wall and started working on the inside LGD. I held up the fence where I planned on installing it and it seems small... Is ~6'x13' okay for an adult for a week or so? Then next year for the puppy most of the day?
