Cassandra and I tagged the 3 babies with ear tags. We also dosed Scarf and Coconut with Ivermectin since they are pale eyed. I will be getting a different category wormer on Monday.
I can't believe I only have one ear tag left for this year. (GWR19 and GWR20 broke). I have 5 ewes due mid January - March so I need to order 2025 tags. This time, I will leave the male tag without number so no mismatch opportunity.
Tags are a pain. I tag our sheep woth colored tags relating to which ram sired them. Unfortunately I forgot to number the tags differently which means that several lambs have the same number just different colors. Now I have to register the lambs with a letter referring to their tag color.
And it never ends. Socks and Oreo are both feeling poorly with scours. Their eye colors seem okay. I'm guessing coccidia. I need to review what to do to treat it.
Changes in temperature can bring on pneumonia - like summer colds in people. Do you have a livestock stethoscope (available cheap on line)? Listen for wheezing in the lungs. Easily cleared up with Pennicilin.
