So the last 3 months have been a struggle to keep chugging and stay optimistic for the kids.
- Wednesday Sept 18, Dominic was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. He was admitted for 2 days while we got his numbers under control. Lots of working from home, calls to the nurse, and training sessions to follow.
- Thursday Oct 3rd, Dominic's endocrinologist said we needed to get Alexander and Cassandra screened ASAP for thyroid issues and diabetes.
- Tuesday Nov 12, Alijah was let go from his job.
- Wednesday Nov 27th, we got the lab results back. Alexander has positive thyroid antibodies that we will need to monitor. Cassandra though... She is in early stages of Type 1 diabetes with impaired fasting glucose and positive antibodies. It's just a matter of when it will progress to her needing insulin.
- Monday Dec 2nd, major equipment failure at work and we are running at reduced capacity. I'm getting flack for failure of equipment that is 1 month old from my new boss. We were also told very unlikely there will be a 4th quarter bonus. We did get a Christmas bonus which let us buy presents though.
- Tuesday Dec 3rd, Leo has continued to leave property anytime he manages to snap leader. Neighbors are now sending passive aggressive text messages complaining about him doing damage and also blaming me for another random stray dog's damages. I have now upgraded him to a heavy chain attached to a 36" mobile home anchor screw. I'm waiting for same neighbors to call county to report me for animal cruelty.
The only pure good news is selling flock to Kodesh Acres. They are so happy to have the sheep and will take good care of them. That also gives us an additional pad of money till Alijah starts getting paychecks. It will also cover our purchase of a new ram and a few ewes.
The mixed news is Alijah is supposed to start a new job January 6th. The downside is it is a 1.5hr each way commute.
OMG - that is soooo much you and the family been through! Screaming YIKES. My heart goes out to you and prayers as well.
Hopefully Alijah's new job will be good - but 1 1/2 hrs away - ugh.
Hoping next year will be better for you and yours.
Wow & double WOW! Stressors enough for everyone. The commute is long but, ok until something closer opens. Like we know, it's a paycheck!
I'm sure the dietary changes for family are a consideration, too. Strengthen what you've already begun to handle since Dominic was diagnosed. This is a lot to handle.
Gheesh! Y’all need a break! Everything has hit you at once. It can stop now please! I pray things slow down to a dull roar and you can catch your breath. 2025 will be better!
