@Ridgetop I had a wonderful 3.5 years working for BossLady. The problem was new Chief Operating Officer SuperStupid hired in Jan 2023 didn't see the sh!t show and bonded strongly with BossStupid. BossStupid was hired the year after I was and promoted to manager level in March 2023 after the previous one quit. The death knell was last August when I was transferred to BossStupid's department.

Happy things!
Husband’s bio-dad got results back. His cancer is officially in remission.🎉

New medical insurance is living up to expectations. Dominic’s CGM and insulin supplies are HALF the cost as old insurance. The insulin is FREE!

My ear tags came so the triplets and Aria’s ram are done.

I fixed the water line that cracked at sheep shed so autowaters are working again.

It’s way past time for good things for you and family. That’s great news about your husband’s bio-dad. Is he the one who picked up the kids at TexKats sheep day last year?

I’ve been thinking on a better way to move sheep from trailer to the pens. Looks like I’m bringing quite a few. Dragging that many will be nigh impossible. So I’m thinking bring hog panels cut in half. Link them with carabiners to form a chute from trailer to the alley to the pens. Lure the little darlings with feed and not have to fight them all the way. Using them would make loading in trailers when we sell them too. Of course, using halters also.

I can’t see taking one at a time, fighting all the way, with halter and lead rope.

I also plan on weaning the ewe and ram lambs with access to the working chute. Then daily “training” sessions getting in the trailer because I will feed them in the trailer. That should make loading much easier. Sounds good in my head, we’ll see how it works out in real life……. Chaos!

How does that sound to you?

When our numbers were fewer, I always trained the cows to go on the trailer with some feed as a reward... got to where they would load up without missing a beat...

When I had the hogs and raised the feeder pigs... about a week or so before the monthly hog sale, I backed the 2 ton GMC truck with the racks on the back, up to the loading ramp... put feed in the back of the truck and some on the ramp... fixed the gate so the feeder pigs could get under it but not the big sows... in 3-4 days, they learned when I put the feed on the ramp... after putting it in pans on the truck.. to scoot under the gate and up on the truck... I could load 10-20 feeder pigs in about 5 minutes... I would feed the sows in their normal feed pans and they would turn right around and go there and the pigs would go up on the truck since they weren't "fighting" mom to get feed... never had to go out and chase 8 week old piglets around and get dirty.... sows were ready to be done with the pigs pulling on them all the time.. the pigs were all eating good so not a problem to sell them as feeders... and the next batch of smaller piglets were just getting going at 3-4 weeks... so then they weren't getting pushed around by the bigger feeder pigs, and quickly learned to go to pans that the sows couldn't get to, and get feed... worked like a charm...

Life was so much simpler and more fun back then... even if it was more work....miss my pigs.

@Margali ... we welded a couple of L/U shaped brackets on the side of the trailer and can hang a couple of portable cattle panels on the side... our fenders stick out so they basically hang off the top of the trailer side where the roof comes around, and sit on/just above the fender. We tie them with a bailing string to the bottom so they don't move because out trailer is open down to the fenders with just bars, not solid like a horse type trailer... but I am sure you could figure out a way to keep them tight against the trailer..
Brackets would remind you of the kind that they sell for hanging things like bicycles or ladders in your garage.. just have nuts/bolts or welds to attach to the side/top of the trailer rather than screw into a beam in the garage...
