Well, what do you know?! I went to town this morning and just got back. I went straight out to the pasture and. . . BROWNIE HAD KIDDED!!!!!! A beautiful boer/kiko doeling. Just a single, but that's ok. She gave us a single kid last year too, so maybe she just kids singles. ShesS a sneaky thing. Both times she has waited until no one is looking and boom, there it is!

I do love it when everything goes smoothly!

The animal science class performed necropsies on Doofy's kids that we lost last week. The doeling was born alive, but then got too cold. The buckling showed signs of a traumatic delivery and was DOA. WE figured there was some significant trauma due to Doofy's recovery being touch and go for a couple of days.
I'm glad to have answers, and I am really glad that the kids could learn from our loss. My son wants to be a vet and has loved this class .However, I still wish I would have been able to be at the delivery. We maybe would have had a different outcome.

We are officially in kid watch for buttercup. No date, but her bag is full, not quite shiny. Her ligs are very soft, last night they felt like they were completely gone, today I can barely feel them. Her lady parts are so swollen they're almost obscene, and she's passing some goo. I hope she goes soon, cause I can't take this checking on her all night business!
