Recently had meningeal worm here in a female alpaca. I caught it just as she started becoming wobbly in her back. Started treating the next day and finished her treatment 2 days ago. In that time, she has definitely not gotten any worse. She went from normal to very unsteady in 2 days, so I'm guessing she'd be either down or dead by now if the meds hadn't worked. I understand there could be permanent damage, but I'm wondering at what point is it permanent vs. still healing? She has a vigorous appetite, snotty attitude (like always) and is up and walking around with everyone else. She just looks like she had a few too many at the bar.

It can take months for the nerve damage to heal. Or it can just be a few weeks. Just depends on how she heals from this. Glad you caught it early.

This is what I figured. I hope it is not permanent. If it is, though, she's definitely not letting it stop her. She's a no-nonsense camelid!
