That's great that the little doe has figured out how to get some extra groceries... If her manure starts to smell like the the momma goat, like calves do after getting milk from a cow, will the doe be more likely to accept her? Would be great if you only have to supplement the little doeling...

Sometimes. My supplement is mixed from milk, not powdered supplement. Don't know how much her nursing to change smell. Plus, don't want her kid pushed off. It's harder than cows in this respect. I did see the kids bed with/by each other first time tonight. She's only 30 hrs older but that's a lot of activity and she's a whirlwind! The does kid slept first 24, as usual. It's a watch, wait & see. Also FF produces less. 🤷😊🤞

Two more does close, one with crooked tail, well bagged. Thinking another to kid tomorrow. Hate to think anyone popping during first snow in 3 yrs 😱 get busy girls.

I forced Granny to feed her ram lamb. I tied her up, sat in mud/manure, pushed her against the wall with my feet and let the little guy suck. NO amount of her milk coming out the other end convinced her that was her lamb. She sniffed his butt, wrinkled her nose in disgust, snorted and butted him away. She finally refused to let her milk down. Her ewe lamb, now named Fluffy by a little girl on TEG, is drop dead, smack dab, gorgeous.

Spot follows his mom and sister, but she still won’t feed him. It’s comical when I call him for his noon bottle to see him jerk his head up, then come running, baa-baaing all the way.

Bottled this morn, little guy nursed mom. Then both kids came together for cuddles & stitches, while their bodies had a chance to tell them "your tummy is full". Then I left stall, the two played and let mom watch. A nap took over & they curled together under the corner feed bin. 🥰 It's all good. Mom got grain.

Other 4 kids were out in paddock, bouncing around. Moms eating hay close by. It's warming up 👍

10pm feed went well. Dark & kids settled well. This morn, well this doeling is really aggressive in everything she does. Took her out of stall to feed. Mom is a little anxious to let her kid nurse -- too much fighting off miss trouble! So, left her in barn aisle after bottle. Give doe & son private time. She's penned, hay to snuggle in. Needs to chill out!! 😱

Believe she has a name... Trouble. :old

Experienced one moaned & got right to it...a doeling, then FF had a doeling. I went in for bathroom break. Back out to find a 2nd for exp doe. Done. I couldn't move after dark, too hard for them. Put up a couple portable panels. Stapled 2 feed sacks on a spot for wind break. Heavy bedded both. Bond for night! Both talking & cleaning them. Came in for dinner. Back out to be sure all ok. I'll ck again about 10 when I do last bottle feed for Trouble. That'll be it until daybreak. It's actually a lot warmer in the sheds & barns with the body heat from several. 👍10*

Tomorrow is mid 40, sunny, very light breeze. So if other two close ones would be kind, they'll kid tomorrow! No matter what, they & today's newbies will be put into the far side of shed, pasture closed to others. This shed has hay rack length of its center divider. They can see thru. Both sides have separate pasture area. Then first ones in a stalled barn with paddock. 😱. Moms & babes will get consolidated soon. Leaving stalled barn to reclean for next crew.

This is a lot of busy! But winter kids need a cover. Pics tomorrow. One is tan with spots, another black with white markings, last is ?tan/solid & being licked dry.

Ends today with 9 kids, 7 girl, 2 boy. Good start 👏
