One month ago -- thought kidding was over. Never trust goats! Last week I noticed one of my full dairy (saanenXnubian) was getting a full udder...hmmm, weaning? Thought & checked records, nope not kidded. :old

Been watching all week....this evening went to check and she proudly showed me her triplets! 😱 3 doeling, no less. I also have another who looks to be a later breeder -- bellying up, I'm sure it's kids!

Here's Inky & girls ☺️. Also she's a real good trained milker. She chose this rarely used shed. IMG_20250422_192115435_HDR.jpg

Yeah, she's actually white/creme & spotted. All have the drop ears...Nubian from mom & dads a Boer. 🙂 They're all colored up in some way....sure they were born today. Weren't here at morning chores.

Truly, a single would have been fine!! I'd bottle & milk mom! 🤣 Not really wanting 3 bottles again.

B B Market is fantastic for the tiny. ND, pygmy etc. not full sized dairy or meat types.

They'll keep her producing & I'll keep her fed! I'll get them into creep early. Have a set of twins just 1 mo old, the does are good together. May pasture just those families together for feeding, weaning & milking. 🤷 Have a 3rd doe I want to milk. I'll wean her single & put her in with these 2 does...🤔

Bed check to be sure everyone quiet and the new trips with mom, safely. Yeppers, the one doe I said is another late one, looks full tonight. Wouldn't be surprised to find her with twins in morn 😁 or certainly by weekend.

Other farm issue --
Have a hen egg bound 🥴 first in all my yrs of chickens. Looked off yesterday but today -- swollen, off to self. She got a 15-20 min warm Epsom salt soak, massage & Vaseline on swollen skin, a liquid calcium & sugar water drench, plus a glycerin suppository. I've been in the butts of several animals to help birthing but, first live chicken butt.:old hope she makes it. Was up walking to the waterer after & now tucked into a safe nesting spot for tonight. She can't maneuver to roost. If up & around in AM, I'll do another spa event. Sorry, but not going to vet as it's not cost effective. If she succumbs, I'll do necropsy. If she gets worse, I'll cull to prevent suffering. Sad but farm life happens.
