So sorry for your loss. :hugs I hope you are able to get compensation from the neighbor.

I thought about this post yesterday when there was a stray dog roaming by the road across from my goat lot. I stood at my door watching the dog to see if he was going to try anything with my goats. All the goats were at the top of the hill by the house and just watched him too. I was definitely ready to grab a gun if I needed to.
It's terrible to have to feel so nervous on our own property. I'm now afraid to go to the barn in the mornings - the day after, I had a breakdown on the way there - and we are constantly scanning our pastures for dogs.
Any response yet from the owners? I can't believe that facebook post of theirs that you posted, that made NO mention of the goats killed and tried to make YOU the bad person. Hopefully it doesn't step into slander territory and hurt your business.
Not a word. I guess they're hoping it will all just go away. I'm still waiting on the vet bill, and also want to talk to our insurance company tomorrow. I hate to have to get a lawyer, but will if it comes down to that.

Did that twit of a dog owner really send you an intent to sue for slander? Seriously? Because you stated that the attack would have been prevented had the dogs been properly restrained?! That is slanderous? And she thinks that the dogs ripped out the throats of the goats, when instead were mauled elsewhere?

That person would definitely benefit from using spell check and a reviewing of basic grammar. The spelling and grammatical mistakes were making my head hurt. Maybe I should sue, for pain and suffering due to reading that senseless drivel! I know I am not perfect in each message I type, but the mistakes were unpleasantly obvious!

That she did, but I also pointed out that she is the one slandering me. Everyone knows MY name and where I live - her name has never come into this - yet she keeps accusing me of lying to the media about what happened, and all in a public forum.

Guess I should go back to tending my "pathetic little farm..."

So sorry for your loss. They were beautiful does. If they refused to pay your bill, you may sue them in small claim court...rather than hiring an attorney. I hope they know they are wrong and just pay up. :hugs

Yes she did. I read it. She is completely ignorant. In my eyes. Hugs quiltnchik.
