crazy isn't it? who would have thought that a rooster would have gone for that much a few years ago, they would have called us crazy to expect to sell for that, now a young hen, shes worth it, right now even the eggs are going
for 4 or 5 dollars a dozen, world sure has changed, good for the sellers bad for the buyers that want live stock just starting out.
I would give away the cockerels if I thought they'd have a good home, or a humane end. They're bantams, so not enough meat for more than a couple chicken nuggets. Whoever paid $30 for "Fleck" wasn't buying him for soup.

I love the pullet's reaction to Fleck's attempt at crowing. He was just shy of 4 months old.

the people at my auction pay that much and more for the roosters, sometimes the auction say how many rooster
in a row, they take all of them, that can be as many as 15 roosters even at lower prices, those aren't the only roosters they buy, they buy as many as they want, and sometimes thats 30 or more roosters, the auctioneers love them cause thats more they make. they charge 15% for what the chicken sell for plus 50 cent per head you have pretty chickens there, mine are mutts i guess except my young black copper marans, waiting for them to grow up
and start laying, and my bantam cochins or perkins

Nothing wrong with mutts. I wanted bantams, wound up with Speckled Sussex as there was a local breeder (just over an hour's drive from home).

Zacchaeus is the better looking of the two cockerels, and he has a good personality as well. I'm planning on breeding him to the best of the hens, still working out how to do it.
