Hi all, have been a lurker for a very long time and just joined. We moved our little herd of LaManchas from New England to the Ohio Valley this spring and are getting settled. Looking for advice on finding other LaMancha peeps here as we are in need of buck service and lots of folks raise NDs where we are. We also have raised Shetland sheep and have a lot of love for horses dogs and cats!

:welcome from the western side of Va. NO GOATS here.... but many other animals. Where in New England were you? I was born and raised in Conn... but have been in Va for over 40 years....
Chickens, sheep, beef and dairy cattle... big garden....
Please go to your name top right, down to account details, down to location and put in something like Ohio Valley so if you ask a question, someone can answer with an idea of where you are referring to.... I for one, am :old with a memory like s sieve some days... it will show up on your avatar everytime you post and makes it handy for anyone wanting to ask or answer .....

I was from the southwestern end, Stamford, CT. Then Newtown CT for nearly 10 years. Yes, CT was a nice state, except for the high costs and the increasingly idiot people who do not value farming... Had family in VT and had hoped to move there but after coming to Va and realizing that the Blue Ridge Mtns were pretty and the temps would give me at least a month more of growing season, came south. Plus prices were much more sensible here, not catering to the ones that went to VT for the "snow/skiing" ..... Still had 4 seasons, but less winter. We used to get more snow and such, but it is more rainy icy sleet than snow the last 10-15 years. Still more farming oriented out in the rural areas. Taxes are not near what they are in the NE states.

Ooh! I was raised in CT, Old Saybrook, then Manchester, East Hartford, Stafford Springs, Rockville (now Vernon), Coventry.

But I am a happily Transplanted Yankee.
