One of my favorite pastimes is remembering past times. Pictures are precious to me because they help me remember and go back there in my mind ❤️

Bruno and Potamus watch over the weanling calves that were sick or too small to go with the others. The boss runs 4,000 head of mother cows.

“Does this halter make my butt look big?”
Miss Emmalou Moo. My first Jersey was pregnant with her when I got her. Emma was my dream cow. She gave me 3 gal a day on OAD milking ❤️

The Sheeple loved Mr Potamus. They always ran to him when there was a threat and he would lead them up next to the house while Bruno confronted the problem, then once they were tucked in, he would go back Bru up. It was fascinating to watch them work together.

A recipe for starter? It’s easier and faster to reconstitute an existing starter, plus it will be stronger and more active already. If you make one from scratch, you have to wait some time to make sure the bacteria in the started is strong enough to combat any bad stuff.
I’d be happy to send you some starter if you just cover the postage. Give me a couple weeks though cuz I have to dehydrate some more as several of my friends on another site want some 😂
Or you can order some online. But if you really want to do one from scratch, I can give you the recipe I did use 25 yr ago. Just let me know (no, I haven’t been cooking sourdough the whole time. I mostly made pancakes, waffles and cinnamon rolls and when I wasn’t using it for awhile I would dry some then toss the rest until I needed it again)

Ropin’ a wild one…

Bringing in the cavvy. There was around 30 horses at that time… (2008)

P1010012_2_3.jpeg

Every morning at 5, someone would wrangle the cavvy into the big corral and the buckaroos (that’s what they call themselves here in the big basin) would catch up one of theirs and tie them in the barn with a can of oats, ready to be saddled right after breakfast

Tack closets are behind the horses. Each cowboy has his own.

Fen struggled with public access so I pulled him a few months back and began leaving him home or in the vehicle. It was just too much for him to deal with a four hour car ride then be expected to sit quietly underneath the table in a restaurant or to sit or lay quietly in a doctors office. He’s the most hyperactive dog I’ve ever owned, and I have had many herding breeds in my life. He was very unhappy if he couldn’t be out running and playing. I wish I at least had ducks or sheep or something besides leppie calves for him to work at home, as he wants and needs a job and needs to use his superior intelligence.
Since bringing Boone home, Fen has been asking to go with us so I gave him another opportunity. We made the 4 hr trip to rheumatologist yesterday. He wanted to go in while we ate breakfast. I figured worse case, I would take him back out to car. He was a perfect boy. We hit Lowe’s, the feedstore, then the hospital, where he spent a long time laying and quietly waiting for me through my appt and bloodwork. He did a great job tasking for me, giving me his leash and my phone I dropped, interrupted my scratching and warned me of possible fall.
He worked happily all day, never pulling (which had been a real problem for him) he paid close attention to me (normally he is 100% distracted) right up until dinner, when he opted to nap in the ‘burb, and again while we went to last grocery store.
At 14 months old, he’s finally figured it out. He may have a few relapses but he will only get better from here.
Gud boi Fen!

Now that puts a huge smile on my face. You've worked so hard on this, and had so many "set-backs" making it look like he wasn't going to work - now this! YAY ❤️ ❤️ :love
